NFSU First Tournament Problems (Display)
« on: November 20, 2003, 05:56:03 pm »
The first tournament you can do in the game I do the first race, and then it loads the second one, and on the loading screen it just freezes at that screen but the music and everything still plays, the screen just freezes. How can I fix this?

On the first tab there's a button "save all info". Save it as a text file and attach it to your reply :)

You think that will fix it?  I had Windows Update download it but I told it to notify me in like another day.  Is there a way I can install it now without having to wait on it to come up again?

My windows update for xp downloaded new xp updates but I told it to remind me in 3 days. So, it obviously downlaoded it somewhere. Is there a way for me to bring up windows update again to install the drivers now or do i have to d/l them off the net again?   If I go to Start, Programs, and then Windows Update it just makes me d/l them again.

Windows update is not necessarily the SP 1 sevice pack !
This is a critical update !
Visit the microsoft page as I suggested before and let it SCAN for updates. Then select the SP1 service pack only , download and install it.
Also when you selected remind me in 3 days time you didn't actually download anything ! this will cancel the download.

Is there anything else I can try.  I downloaded the service pack and it installed but when I clicked Next on another microsoft thing I got an error but I don't remember what it was.  But on the little Windows Update Dialog it said it downloaded and the install got all the way through.  So I don't know if it actually installed or not.  Is there anything else I can do?

Were you asked you re-start ?
If you want to check that it's installed click on Control Panel/Add/remove programs , then scroll down to the bottom of the installed programs list.

Or you could run dx diag again and look at the top of the first page of the report.

It is still Build 5.1, 2600.  And know I wasn't asked to restart.  I am pretty sure it failed.  Is there something else I can do?

Wait, I chose to not archive the files though.  But in Add/Remove Programs there is 2 files called:

Windows XP Hotfix
Windows XP Hotfix (SP1)

And I can Change/Remove them.

I just retried it and it still froze in the same spot.  Sigh.  This sucks.  Is there nothing else I can try.

Is there a way for my friend to download the updates and put them on a CD or something and then I install them, would that work?

And, are you sure that getting SP1 and the others would fix this?

Well SP1 service pack cured my game problem.
You see win xp doesn't like recognising certain CD drives,
So when the CD rom is trying to read the CD it stops ! or freezes.
After I installed SP 1 my game ran normally, so I hope this answers your question.
Nobody can guarantee anything, so you will just have to try it !

Normally SP1 won't download if the version of XP doesn't have a valid registration key.
You could try doing what you said and installing it from CD, also when you install it or games always disable your anti-virus software when you install it !

Simple rule download, close internet connection, disable AVG and then install and re-boot.

My friends dad has Win XP Full version.  Would he be able to download SP1 onto his desktop and then save it onto a CD and me install it then?  Also, what is AVG?  I don't have any anti-virus programs running either.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp

AVG is Antivirus. You could try searching on the internet for SP 1 download, if the link above doesn't help you.

Windows Update on my friends PC said that it downloaded SP1 and it worked but he got the same error as me when downloading from the net, but the program Windows Update on his computer downloaded it, installed, and asked for restart like its supposed to but it wouldn't work for him if he tried to d/l from microsoft website like I did.  So I guess I'll just wait another 2 days for my windows update to come back up and try it.

Activate me...tomorrow
In addition to the compliance changes, Service Pack 1 will slightly change XP's product- activation scheme. Though Microsoft says that very few users were forced to reactivate their systems, Windows XP SP 1 will allow a three-day grace period for reactivation if you make major system changes or reinstall your copy of XP. If you're using a pirated copy of XP, forget about any SP 1 improvements. Microsoft says it will block illegitimate copies of XP from downloading both the service pack and future updates from Windows Update.

Hi,

I have the same exact problem with the game,
i dont think SP1 will solve anything, because my game is umm downloaded and doesnt run on cds,
the problem is with the video card, i have the same and exact video card. i still havent figured out what the problem is, i had the same problem with COD ( Call of duty ) same and exact problem, ive read that i have to turn off fast write in my ATI options, and it worked, but still NFS doesnt!!! lol  so i dont know what to do, i have a real copy of XP ill try downloading SP1 though i doubt this is gonna work, but if it does, ill get back to u guys
