Jane Doe contests the RIAA
« on: August 22, 2003, 05:39:00 pm »
Finally, users are fighting back against the RIAA. Read this thread on slashdot for some interesting discussion:

There are a lot of "she is stealing and won't win" crap, but there is also a lot of thoughtful posts that should be read in that thread. I personally think this is great. I despise the RIAA for the methods they are willing to take to keep a business model that is obviously dead. I have not bought a CD in years. Why? Mostly because the crap they release is way too expensive and not to my tastes. I also bought a lot of CD's when the technology was new and all the music I had on LP's sounded better on CD. Now, I see no need to buy CD's for $18+ when I can get DVD's with a hell of a lot more content for $14. CD's need to come way down in price to be viable in my opinion.

The only cd's I buy are SACD's (super audio cd), cause they can't be copied, but the sound quality makes them worth the price ~$20.
But I agree with you, normal cd's are to expensive compared to DVD and what they got to offer. The only thing we can do at the moment is wait and see what happen
