Beta
« on: November 06, 2004, 02:53:51 pm »
As you know, Bako, Condor and myself ordered the pre-order to get into the monthly weekend beta tests. Unfortunately, the pre-order was pretty much sold out everywhere.

I sent an e-mail to Arena.net and explained them the problem. They sent me an e-mail back with a code to access the November beta weekend. Not only am I extremely happy, but I also believe it's an experience of a company that truely wishes to give support in every way they can. Thank you !

Bako, Condor, let me know as what types you guys want to play. I'll start saving some items for the professions you choose ;)

Well, mostly I'm gonna be a Warrior ... got 3 characters total.
1 is W/MO, 1 is W/El and the third one is a chick ... Necro/Mesmer ... so ... I think my primary character will be the W/El ... so ...  tell me, how was the weekend ? I know it was the first one, so lemme know how it all went and if you have any screens, share them, ok ?

Well, so far everything is the same as the last beta you were in.

Only this time I went our and explored the lands. I came across very interesting and funny things. I won't spoil to much, but from one of them I'll post a pic :)

I did register our guild.

Name: Gameheaven Guild
Tag: GH (this means you can remove the [Gh] behind your names, cause it'll show up automaticly behind the players name).

You and Condor have been invited :)

Being a member of a Guild gives you some sort of cape (I'll post a pic of ours). It's kinda cool. As far as I was able to see, ours stood out the most compared to others. I hope you like what I've chosen.

More to follow later :)

I took part in the open beta weekend some weeks ago, and I must say it looked really cool.  The downside was that this game is so big.  I got lost multiple times, couldn't find the guy I was supposed to find for a quest.  But I guess once you get the final version, you'dd be spending so much time in this game, that you'll get the hang of it.
Really looked promesing.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the next Beta weekend (8th of January). I made it quite far actually. With my new character I think I'm one mission away from Lion's Arch, which would be excellent to reach due to the various NPC's there from which you can buy stuff. It'll be extremely hard to walk around out there though with such a low character :-\

Once ingame, make sure you let us know here your character name, so that either myself or Bako is able to invite you in the Guild :)

Loved the game.

Graphics are superb,
Controls take half a day to get used to (especially the fact that you first have to click on the target and only then select the spell)
Unbelievable number of possible combinations of character builds
Vey funny extra's (people runing around in their underwair, al these commands you can give to your char to do funny stuff - especially the Beckon and help I thought were funny, ....

My experience is, try many different builds, and see wich ones you like and wich ones work well. Restarted on my Monk/Mesmer build about 3 times before I found the right mix.  Same for my Mesmer/Elementalist and Necro/Mesmer build.  I really love the Mesmer as a secondary profession.  The hex and buf spells that this secondary profession adds to you main char are a very good extra.

Oi, hang on. Does this mean it's not the first weekend of feb ?  The 18the ?  :( I just counted all these beta weekends to make sure none of them were on a weekend that I have my kids so I'dd have enough time to play.  If they moved it to the weekend of the 18th, I'll have to recheck my scedule.  >:( :(

yeah, hope you'll be there man ... just foiund out that on the 19th the misses asked me to come with her to help her with some stuff ..
and as GW Beta usually is on the first weekend of the month she didnt know better ...

untill I said that ArenaNet moved the date to the weekend of the 18th ... so she figured from there ... that I most likely wont be helping her ... but then again .. I might take a break from GW a bit and help her out neways ... but who knows ... I might also NOT !!

After a first quick look on my callendar, they moved it 2 weeks, wich fits my kids schedule.  No kids that weekend.  But I find myself in a similar situation as you Bako.  Girlfriend didn't know it was posponed, and it seems she made some appointments for us that weekend (dinner with friends) so I won't be there all weekend.  >:(
