For our guild, we need to have a set of characters. What I've figured is that in a party
of 6, we at least need two Warriors and one character with Monk skills (non Warriors). As Myself,
Bako, Condor and DogHunter are in the Beta weekends, we've figured the following:

Bako - Warrior/Necromancer
Condor - Elementalist/Monk
Doc Nyar - Mesmer/Elementist
DogHunter - Warrior/Necromancer

The Warrior/Necromancer combo would be great, due to the fact that with certain Necromancer skills,
one can raise minions. The Elementalist has excellent fire skills, which deal great damage. At least
with the above combinations, we at least have one Monk in our party to resurrect anyone who died
(go figure ;)).

Skills to concentrate on (you can only have 8 ready when leaving town):

Condor

Elementalist (Fire):

* Fireball
(Fireball flies toward target foe and explodes on impact, dealing 20/112 fire damage in
  an area).
*
Meteor (Call down a firey meteor on your target foe. The meteor explodes, dealing 20/112 damage and
  knocking down anyone it hits).
*
Meteor shower (Exploding meteors strike the area near your target. Each deals 20/112 damage and knocks
  down anyone it hits).
*
Phoenix (A firey phoenix rises at your location, burning nearby foes for 15/90 fire damage, and flies
out to your target, exploding on impact for an additional 20/116 fire damage).
*
Glyph of Elemental Power (Your elemental attributes are boosted by 2 for your next spell).

Monk:

* Restore life
(Touch the body of a fallen party member. Target party member is returned to life with half
  health and full energy).
*
Heal other (Heal target other ally for 25+ health).

Doc Nyar

Elementalist (Fire):

* Fireball
(Fireball flies toward target foe and explodes on impact, dealing 20/112 fire damage in
  an area).

Mesmer:

* Mind Wrack
(For the next 20 seconds, if target enemy's energy is zero, that enemy suffers 20/110
  damage and Mind Wrack ends).
*
Power leak (If target enemy is casting a spell, the spell is interrupted and the enemy loses 10/100
  energy).
*
Power Spike (If target enemy is casting a spell, the spell is interrupted and the enemy takes 20/102
  damage).
*
Mantra of Persistence (While you maintain this Enchantment, any illusion magic Hex you cast lasts
  20..100% longer).
*
Energy Burn (Target enemy loses 4/11 energy and takes 8 damage for each point of energy lost.)

Bako & DogHunter

Warrior (Sword):

* 100 Blades
(Swing twice at target foe and foes adjacent to your target. You deal 75% damage with each
  hit).
*
Savage Slash (If this attack hits, it interrupts target foe's action. If that action was a spell, you
  deal 2+ extra damage).
*
Sever Artery (If this attack hits, the opponent will start to bleed, losing health over time. With
Swordsmanship 4 or less, this attack has a 50% chance to miss).
*
Endure pain (For the next 7+ seconds you have an additional 90+ health).
*
Frenzy (For the next 8 seconds, you attack 33% faster in melee, but all hits against you in melee are
  critical hits).

Necromancer:

* Animate Bone Horror
(Exploit target corpse to animate a level 1/12 Bone Horror).
*
Faintheartness (For the next 20+ seconds, target enemy's attack speed is reduced and that enemy loses
  1 health per second).
*
Suffering (Target enemy and all enemies within 25 feet are hexed with Suffering for 6+ seconds. While
hexed, they suffer health degeneration of 2. (Lose 2 health per second.))

Took me a bloody time reading up on all the skills, but let me know what you think. If you think another
skill would be better for you, feel free to post :)

Well, especially for the Necro skills, you may want to change 1 (apart from the Bone Horror)...

I'd be interested in joining up with you guys for the next beta event.  One question, do they let you keep your WPE characters for the beta events also?  I'd like to use my WPE character if it's possible.

Of course you can join up :)

I'm not sure what you mean with WPE character, but if you ever played Guild Wars before, that character will still be there (at least it was with ours)...

I've been reading the strategy guide that came with the pre-order kit, and so far these are the Professions that seem the most exited to me :

Warior : good old Kill, Murder, Chaos
Mesmer : can't imagine how such a character would play, but he's got someting intriging about him
Necromancer : Hail death - my middle name isn't "pro-pain" for nothing
Elementatlist : I love giving people a shower : being an icy one or a meteor one.

Did you guys read this book ?  Or do you just experiment with the different classes a bit.  Are there any rules/agreements on team builds yet ?
Seems to me we're a bit short on Monks no ?  Maybe I'll start out as a Warrior/Monk (supportive healer).

Yes, I did read the book a bit, but decided I wanted to try out some of the things in game. I'm currently a Elementalist/Mesmer character, which I kinda like.

And yes, we're kind short on Monks. But I wouldn't choose Monk as second profession for a Warrior, as you're constantly busy in close combat. You hardly have time to heal/resurrect others. It would be better to have a ranged person being a Monk as second profession, as he has a better overview of the battlefield.

yeah I read the booklet aswell, but already knew, from the E34E event that I wanted to be a Tank ... so that's why my main character is a W/Ne .... I mean, up close with your miniors ... just gotta love that ....

I think we can use a Mesmer as 1st proffession (if you want to)
seeing as we've got 3 Elementalists already ... but then again ... can never have enough of those ...

so, take your pick ... any .... ;D

Are there any rules or sugestions (within the guild) on to whom we give the friends invite ?  If not I'll be inviting Striker (Doc and Bako should know him) for one of the weekends.

Looking into the professions we already have to make a pick wich adds some value.  I guess I should take monk as second, but can't really decide on the first.  Doc sugested Mesmer/Monk, but doesn't that char lack a real punch ?

O, we'll see in a week or 2.

Some of those life stealing spells bring down health quite fast as I've noticed... But you could always  go for a ranger or an Elementalist as first profession :)

Been looking at the professions we already have (listed above for a few members only), and went through the booklet again twice.  They keep talking about Primary healers and how much you'd need them, so I'm thinking I'd try a Monk/Ranger first.
Specialising in :

- Healing/Protection to heal and support others
- Smithy prayers to do some holy damage
- Ranger second to be able to do some damage, but from a distance as my Monk won't have that many HP or armor.

BTW, have you guys seen many Primary monks in the game until now ?

Well, we made it to Lion's Arch (and way passed it). The Guild has been setup again.

It took us almost the whole friggin weekend to get to Lion's Arch though (I'm really looking forward to getting Bako there the next weekend ). I'm praying that our characters remain this time for the next weekend. It would save us a lot of hassle.

But we had quite a few new members joining on Sunday night. But in all the excitement I didn't think about capturing our new Guild members .
I'll update the member list the next weekend (which is only 4 weekends away...)

Well, I'm one of them.   ;D My main character is Miss Sausage, a lvl 8 Monk/Mesmer.
Side characters I've tried are a Mesmer/elementalist, and a Necro/Mesmer.  They worked very well.  I have tried other combinations, but didn't like them that much.  Restarted several times, as I made some bad choiches on the skills.

About the char and guild wipe.  When you started a new char, you got some explanation about why they did that.  It seems they did so many and complex changes for this weekend that they decided the char and guild wipe.  According to this text, it was the last one. So chars and guilds from this weekend should be available in the release version.

I met a lot of people this weekend, who helped me out a lot and from whom I learned a lot this weekend.  Just wondering who they are on this board ?  Klein meisje ? Sembiora Fetnek ?   It was a bit strange talking to people I never have seen or being unable to stick some nick I know from here on those voices.  ;)

Really looking forward to next weekend and my trip over the snowy mountains.  8)

Sembiora Fetnek = Eldaria
Slave Hunter = Dogracer

Good to hear that they don't have any intentions to do other guild whipes.
