Hints, Tips & Questions
« on: December 09, 2004, 08:59:14 pm »
Alright, some hints and tips on Guild Wars:

There are various things you can do while you're in town. There are quite a few
NPC's and they do have a function. Below a small summary of what they do (more to those
in Ascalon City and Lion's Arch).

Crafter:

I think that about the
Crafter, most people have questions.
The
Crafter is able to provide you with upgrades on armor. Once you select him, a
screen will pop up with all kinds of various armor. You'll notice that the
armors are for the various professions. If you're an Elementalist, you'll want the Elementalist armor
(for arguments sake anyway). If you want the
Crafter to craft you
new armor, as Elementalist, you'll need Bolt of Raw Cloth (and a bit of gold). I think it's the
Bolt of Raw Cloth that confuses people. Those Bolt of Raw Cloth can either be found while
playing missions (After you kill a monster, it may drop it), you can buy it (Lion's Arch), or you can create
it via Salvage items.
Salvage items can be found in missions too.

Salvage items can be used the following. At the Outfitter in Ascalon City for example,
you can buy a
Salvage toolkit. Just dubble click on this toolkit and then select a
Salvage item, or weapons that you don't have any use for (!!) Especally the last,
not to many people seem to know (from the questions in the Beta weekend anyway). With Salvaging weapons, you'll notice
that your crafting material stock will grow rapidly. You can use crafting material for your own use, sell it,
or use it to trade with other players.

Remember: The
Crafter has armor for various levels ! In Ascalon, you can
craft armor for your character and use it when he/she is either level 5+, or armor for level 10+ !

In Lions Arch, you'll have quite a few more NPC's to buy stuff from. One of them being the
Skill charm trader. Here you can buy Skill charms. In order to use
these Skill carms, you'll need to have a ring to learn that skill permanently. Remember that those rings
(and skills) are profession specific. In other words, if you have a ring for a Warrior, you can't learn
a Monk skill for your Warrior/Ranger character.

Skills... Make sure you use your Atrribute skill points. For a Elementalist for example, you can increase the
damage you do with your skills. IMHO it also wouldn't be to wise to devide your skill points over all your
attributes. My Elementalist character is focussing on the Fire attribute, together with Energy storage. For the
second Monk profession it has, it focusses on the Healing Attribute. Don't be afraid you put the points in the
wrong Attribute. You can always re-distribute them the way you see fit.

You can only change the skills in your belt in town. So before you head of to kill a few, make sure you've
chosen the skills you want to use in battle !

The above list will grow during time, but I noticed that about the above, quite a few questions were asked.
If you have any additions, feel free to add them below. The same goes for questions of course :)
