Need for Speed Undergound 2 won't start

Im not sure if its because of my motherboard or video card or the crack speed2.exe that im using, but everytime i try to open NFSU2, Windows tells me "speed2.exe has encountered a problem and has to exit etc..."
i have ATI 9250 128 bit 128 mb and MSI KT4AV on this computer. but on my other computer, which has ATI 9600 pro + epox mothrboard, it completely works.

oops did i say crack, i meant nocd.exe heh... actually, yesterday i found out that i had direct 9.0 b on the non working pc while on the other one, it had direct x9.0 c . so i tried downloading and installing directx9C, but nothing happened, dxdiag still displays B as its directx version.

I don't see anything wrong with your dxdiag.

What you could try is to put the 9600 from the wroking pc into the one that doesn't work..

i tried the 9600 on the other pc but it still wouldnt work. is it possible that dxdiag wont recognize 9.0 C and displays 9.0 b instead?

I also found another problem while trying the 9600 on the other pc. with the 9250, i always have to reduce AGP to 4x instead of 8x in order to avoid the VPU recovery error while playing games . But when i tried 9600, games like warcraft 3 went smoothly without changing AGP settings.
what must be the reason for this?

well, one thing that might cause this is that your AGP slot only supports 4x and not 8x even when your ATi does ... so the AGP speed is still depenable on the mobo you put it in ....

Correct. Dxdiag should report the right version.

Are you sure you downloaded the right version ?

yep i downloaded the right version (33.4 mb redistributable directx9c)
and yes  the msi kt4av motherboard supports 8x agp. the 9600 works perfectly fine together with it at 8x agp.

Now that you downloaded the right version of DirectX, did the game work now?

Btw, you may want to try the game without the nocd...
