Please help !   We can play the official maps in the lan but even though we both have dowloaded the same unofficial maps ,it says the one joining the game does not have the map, and it starts to transfer and then after the bar goes up once. It just says preparing and then times out. We both have win XP.

Could you provide a URL link for the maps in question?

Did you guys download the maps from the same location?

It's possible that one of you may have a corrupted file. Did each of you try to start the game to make sure that timout on a join to a game happens on both machines?

the site is    cncden.com

We can play the maps seperately in skirmish, and can download maps for an on-line game if we don't have that map with other players. So we tried to have me create a game and him join and could not transfer the map.

This is not life and death but is driving me nuts. I appreciate you even trying as you are the first that has even answered and is trying to help.

not sure what you mean about the crack

Meaning a file that allows you to play without cdrom

No problem, that's what we are here for.

Is there any particular map(s) that give you trouble from that site or hav you tried all of them and had problems? There a quite a few maps there and it would help if you narrowed it down a bit.

The one map we were trying to get to work was race-for-the-flat-tops, I would assume if we (with your help) get that one to work the rest will follow suit. We allways have the disk 1 in when playing. We have tried many thinking the maps were just not available for network play, Many people are having thie same problem you'll be a CNC God when you figure this out !

OK, thanks for the information. Unfortunately I won't be able to look into this problem until after September 8, since I will be on vacation until then.  Sorry, bad timing I guess.  I would love to solve this one since it sounds like a problem lots of people are having. Plus it gives me a reason to boot up Generals again.

A lot of questions comming to you at ones, have you tried to delete the map onthe non-hosting computer, see if it get's tranferd and then works ok ?

Besides that, do you know others who have gotten the map to work ? I remeber from the Yuri's Revenge map's that some of them where modded to much or just wrong which resulted in a crash.  ...

Well I have gotten the unofficial maps to work ! But the problem I am having now is only 4 player maps will transfer. I spend a liitle time each day working on this and have found that the qos packet tagging has to be checked in order for the maps to transfer. I cannot find out how to speed up or allow the 6 or 8 player maps to transfer any help with this would be appreciated.

FYI  QoS packet tagging is found in the properties of the connection you are using to connect to the other player. Go to configure and then the advanced tab. there is a myriad of settings, research before changing anything !   I have also made a briefcase on my desktop containing all the maps (not sure if this had anything to do with the maps transffering). but it's something I came across and thought i'd try. If I find out anything else that help's In this matter I will certainly relay the Info to you. in hopes that it helps others. I am on aol so if I can help anyone with win xp lan problems fell free to write or catch me online (mrbabyblueyes@aol.com)
