well, just bought my 'new' gaming mini ITX barebone:

Quote
1 x SHUTTLE SN25P
1 x Corsair 2048MB DDR400 32MX64
1 x BenQ 19" FP937S+ 8ms
1 x Samsung 200Gb SATA 8Mb SP2004C
1 x AMD Box Athlon 64 3200+ Venice (S939)
1 x Nec ND-3540 Black
1 x XFX 128mb 6600GT PCI-E

this should tie me down for a bit (and it's easy to take with you for LAN parties and such ... ;)

Sorry to hear that Bako. Sounds like your Motherboard or CPU is fried :(

I had similar symptoms when a capacitor burst in my my motherboard a few years back. I would definitely see about getting a refund/replacement motherboard from where you purchased it. I mean you only had the thing a day or 2 right?

I would demand a replacement on the Motherboard,CPU, and memory just to be safe.

Alright, almost settled on the parts. How does this lineup sound so far:

MB:  Asus P5AD2 Deluxe Motherboard
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 w/ HT Technology - 3.6GHz Processor
Video Card: ATI Radeon X800 XL DVD Edition Video Card
RAM: Corsair 1GB PC4200 DDR2 DIMM Memory Kit

The sound card I believe is Soundblaster Audigy, have to look for it, I know it's of their newer set, and the power supply I have to find to check the specs.

Well, I'm on a budget, and spending more than $500 on a video card really doesn't fit it. I'll be fine with the X800 XL, it's a solid card.

I was looking through a sale paper and found this:

Maxtor 100GB PATA Internal Hard Drive Kit
-7200RPM Spindle Speed
-8MB Cache Buffer
-FDB Bearings

$70 off, total only $29.99

Obviiously a good deal, but how does the hard drive perform, and how reliable and trustworthy is Maxtor?

as of reliability it's the same as WD. It's a little big small, although think I would buy it if it was in my local newspaper. :)

Are you sure it' a new drive ? Some stores sell refurb drivers at very low prices.

Now I'm confused on power requirements, I couldn't find anything within the sepcs about power, so I'll post the manufacturer links to each product and if you can, tell me if a 420 watt power supply can handle it. Someone said 500 is required, but I wanna be sure.

Corsair 1GB PC4200 DDR2 DIMM Memory Kit
Asus P5AD2 Deluxe Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 w/ HT Technology - 3.6GHz Processor
ATI Radeon X800 XL DVD Edition Video Card

I think 420 should be able to handle it, but personally I'd choose the 500watt power supply.

Alright I'll consider getting 500W.

In your opinion, what is the cheapest, yet so so cheap it will blow up my computer, power supply that is 500W?

Also, if I do run it on 420W, and it's not enough, will any damage be done to the parts, or will it just not start?

Just do a search on google, you're bound to find some good prices.
And no, it won't blow anything up, it's just that it won't start.

You can also try www.froogle.com instead of the default Google search if you are looking for products. Although it's not always that good. :P
