In kenia a 10 year old comitted he has raped a 3 year old girl.
The girl is still in hospital, because of serious internal injuries.
The kenian law has nothing about minors comitting such crimes...
Now i wonder what he will get...

Gryphon...I agree with what you said about sex being shoved down the throat of everybody through TV, fashion enz.

The original story was about a kid from America, where society is less about sex.
Ignoring that, teenage girls crawling up to older guys in discos doesn't seem like a valid explanation for raping girls as young as three years, or even fifteen. And dogs...face it, this guy is mentally disturbed.

When people label young rapists as "misguided kids" and say it's because girls are becoming more sex orientated and at an earlier age...well, I think that argument is invalid as hell.
That's like a muslim saying that all women should cover their bodies head to toe with burquas (?), because otherwise they're seducing men and forcing them to rape them...yeah right. It's putting the blame on the victim and it's wrong.

All those things you mentioned are of course related to those rape incidents more or less. But I disagree about being soft on juvenile rapists because of it. THat will only open the door for more such incidents. Sure boys have their urges, and they're tempted to it...they'll just have to resist the temptation instead of behaving like animals. Judges need to be tough on these guys, hopefully that will scare them off.

If you speak to the guys  who did it afterwards. .they are mostly normall guys. . who know it's wrong. And just feel wrong, disturbed and want help instead of getting kicked even more.
Again, the media has a good way of picking the bad cases and making us all stand up on the tip of our tows and cry for murder.

And I agree on the fact that children (so no adult) should be threated otherwise.  They don't know everything yet, and sometimes do things they should know not to do.  Still, I feel this is a horrible deed.  I have 4 children (6year, 2x 4year and one of 2 years) so I know their fysionomy pretty well, and I can't help thinking how on earth raping a 3 year old is even technically possible (it's all so small).  Imagine the internal damage this does.

At the moment I am contracted as a network admin for 3 companies. One of them I have been with for just over about 2 years now. It's not really a company, more a governmental institution. In the Zuid-Holland disctrict of The Netherlands I am working with the government part that takes care of children who are legally placed under government protection / care. In short, abused children, victims of parental fights, children been left in a dumpster and found by neighbours.

I have seen people who put staplers into 3 year old girls. Men offering 15 year old girls for prostitution [ you should visit The Hague ones ], children who didn't get any attention or food for weeks. Even adult women who offer their children for secual pleasure to adult men.
All above is just what made the news. Hope you understand I have a NDA about mainly everything going on there. I even have a report obligation for anything if I personally come in contact with things like this.

I agree fully that the actions from that news story are horrible. And then. It's some peoples job. Same sh*t different day. And you can bet your paycheck that tomorrow it will happen again. The stories making the news are all in a days work for some. And most of the times the guy you read about is the social missfit of the class. The 40 year old man who had problems when he was younger. But the stories not making the news arre about normall people doing those things. And still, the press fails to mention those. And mayby for the best.

I know some of you here are parents. And might kill whoever did such things to any of your children. Although in my opinion, that's just escalating the situation even more. It's horrible. But people are trained for this stuff. It's their job and as hard as it is to face, they do this each day. It's all to Biblical to say an-eye-for-an-eye. And it's hard to hear that this is just a part of our world. Things like this have to be addressed. Although in my opinion not with wild impulsive actions form any of the parents. Understand why things like this are happening. And then take appropriate action.

Hope you can better understand my point of view in this. And as I am just a network dude. Please don't take my comment as in any way related to any government body of any kind.

All I'm saying - and after being with my ex for 8 years who was a "opvoedster" (sorry for the dutch - but don't know the English translation) in a home of the state for abused and neclected children I know how these things work - is that I find this horrible stories, and even though I know how this things work (being molested as a kid they become the agressor themselves sometimes when they grow up) I don't know how I would react if someone did this to my kids.  Don't get me wrong, I'm against violence and taking matters into your own hands.  But the bond with your kids is so strong, I thinkg such an event could bring out the worst in anybody.  I hope it won't (and first of all I hope it never happens) but I think it's possible.  
And the other point I was trying to make, is that such a kid does not get these things into his head just by that.  He must have gone through some heavy shit in his own live before resorting to this.  I know it sounds strange, but it seems to work that way.

Scaring does work, to a certain extent. There'd be a lot more crime if there were no punishments at all. Maybe it's not going to decrease rape incidents if judges were harsher on rapists (though I think it will)

It's just that I think it's wrong that society is defending these guys. "They're only kids"  "girs are practicly inviting it"  "he was drunk when he did it" .... well they still shouldn't be doing it!
So afterwards they say they're sorry and knew it was wrong. Big surprise there. I wonder if they'd be as sorry if they weren't caught. Then again, maybe they'd have reported themselves to the police, just because they're that sorry. I don't think so.

scaring works. Sure. Although prohibiting crime, or tryin gto lower it by means of scaring is not a good idea. People don't keep themselfs from doing wrong because they know they shouldn't. People don't do wrong because they are afraid of other consequenses. Meaning that if they know they people enforcing the scaring tacktics are gone they will commit the crime. because they can. Not restrict themselfs from doing wrong because they know it's a wrong thing to do and then keep themselfs from doing it.

You might find it sick vetje, although Ducth law is a subjective thing. Not a black-and-white easy thing where you can say period. There is a lot of grey in it.

Slashdot had a story a fey days back about Microsoft buying an Antivirus software and canseling the Linux support for it. One Slashdot poster commented, who in the world is gon'na buy antivirus software for Linux from Microsoft ?. Reminded me of this topic.
