it is Port Royale 1..... the intro works fine.... then I get to the options load game, etc screen, then I try to start a game then it gives me the error message!!!!

It has never worked.... I let is search and I deleted all the folders that contained the two inactive drivers but to no avail..... here is the new dxdiag:

Have you tried putting the desktop refresh rate to 70 or below ? You may even want to try and set your desktop setting to 800 x 600..

I haven't tried that yet, but I will... doesn't the game run at 1280x768 minimum? I will try that, but I believe I see the writing on the wall concerning my video card

I set the rate at 60 and it didn't work... then I tried it with 800 x 600 and it still didn't work......

Make sure you update your video card divers. I doubt it'll run on it, but at least try to find some more recent ones.

I tried a new (old but a different) computer...... but it came up with another problem.... it gave me a screen with German text with 4 options at the bottom.....
