BattleField 1942 post-spalsh-screen crash
« on: September 09, 2003, 03:53:03 pm »
I keep reading that the game works fine while v1.0 but if you patch it (1.4, 1.45 etc) it wont load because of software forcing the refresh rate up. This isn't the case for me.
In my case the fix (while patched) where you are supposed to edit the VideoDefault.con didnŽt help, I also tried editing the conf in v1.0 but no use, then I tried shutting down the geforce4 software but with no luck.

So if someone else is running Windows XP Pro with a (Gainward) Geforce4 TI4200 (128Mb Golden Sample) who got over the problem while having a up to date game please let me know how.

PS. I have a legal copy of the game 8)

I upgraded to 1.45 with no refresh rate problems. Could you post a copy of your Dxdiag output (attach as a text file) so we can see what your video driver settings are?

Right off the bat I would say you need to update your Detonator drivers to the WHQL certified version:

Thanx, it worked.

So for everyone who have the same problem:

Update your GFX drivers, if the manufacturer is decent enough they have fixed any compatibility-problems asap.
