BF1942 Disconnected from Server
« on: September 10, 2003, 02:50:26 am »
My friend is getting a Disconnected from Server message and the game is bootiing him back to the server list after the map loads.

Single player works fine and starting a local multiplayer server and joining that works fine.

He was playing the game fine before the 1.45 patch.  Now even with countless re-installs, we haven't been able to get his game to stay connected long enough for play.  I've attached his dxdiag.  Any help would be appreciated.

This problem usually occurs when you try to connect to a
server running a different version of Battlefield. Make sure you connect to a 1.45 server. Some servers have not updated with the new patch. If you are using mods,
connect to a unpure server. If you are using Secret Weapons use a SW server.

I tried connecting to an EA server.  I also tried a non-pure server and made sure it was running 1.45.

There are no mods, this is a straight bf1942 install with the upgrade to 1.45

There have been reports of the Gamespy servers, being
"buggy" for the last few days.  I would try to connect at
different times of the day. Also double check the version,
you try to connect to. This means patch version also.
Another thing to check is ping time. Do a tracert or ping
to the IP you trying to connect to. If your ping is to high,
the server may not let you enter.

I'm not going in through gamespy.

The server list in BF1942 shows the servers I've been trying at 50 to 100 ping.  I downloaded the patch right from the official site yesterday so it should be up to date.  Especially on the EA servers.

I have some similair setup. I'll try to download the patch this weekend and see if it gives me any problems.

Correct me if I am wrong, I thought the server list in
BF was the same as Gamespy. I thought the BF list
accessed Gamespy's list, to create it's own server list.

I think you are right Jeep. I remember seeing something that also says "Powered by Gamespy" on the game server screen.

I did try it, but I have no problems with the new patch. I hope you downloaded the right patch (if you already had version 1.4, you'll need a different patch).
