Options menu crash

well i got an issue with this game that seems rather unique and unfortunate.  Whenever i hit "options" in C and C generals, i crash out to the desktop with a serious error that tells me that it could be caused by overheating, dust etc. this is not the case seeing as i just took this computer apart two days ago and cleaned out the inside and connected everything perfectly.  Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated (i do have version 1.6 if that makes a difference)

Have you tried this Generals troubleshooting site that's listed in the following thread:

well that didn't really help much, i got only one memory card, and the only game play issue i have is that the thing crashes at the options menu, which doesnt sound like a memory issue.
