My microphone doesn't works on winXP.

Heeeelp ! Need backup !

My microphone doesn't works on windows XP professional !

I tried make work but... you know...

...and is needing an litle help. ;D

What kind of sound card do you have ? Have you looked through the settings to make sure all is set okay ?

I have the ASUS onboard sound and a Crystal SemiConductors cs4281.

At the moment, the microphone is plugued on the Crystal.

Yeah, i looked all the settings. It's allright !

Alright as in the settings are as they should be but still no workig microphone, or as in don't ask why but the thing seems to be working now ? ;)

Are you sure the microphone is not broken? Can you check it on another system to be sure the hardware is fine?

As far as settings I will be specific. Is the input bar in the volume adjustment (In your system tray)  for the microphone turned up more than halfway?

If so have you installed the latest windows drivers for your onboard sound chip? You should be able to go to the motherboard manufacture's website and download the latest drivers.

Unless you have a USB mic, which I don't think you have, that would be it as far as software settings problems.

Other than that I am baffled as well.

I have 3 microphones. ;)

Those 3 mics doesn't works, so... it's not problem of my mics.

Yes i have installed the newest drivers, windows update and SP1.

Possibly your sound card has malfunctioned or there is a chipset driver you may need to update it for XP. I sort of doubt that, but you seem to have eliminated the mic being bad and all of the normal software stuff has been done. Did you upgrade to XP or was it a fresh install? If it was an upgrade it is possible that some older drivers could be lingering causing the problem. Another thing you could check is the BIOS for the motherboard. It's possible the BIOS has settings for the on board sound card as well.

Open XP's sound control app, then unclick the mute for line in.
It conflicts with other sound control apps !

You shouldn't need to do it in your BIOS.
Click on Start/programs/accessories/entertainment, then you will see sound recorder and sound volume check these to see if mute is on for line input.

Maybe a stupid idea, but have you put the mic in the correct connector on your mobo?

It's serious huheaeiahiaehiaheaihe ! It is not on the wrong connector.

But i have only one hope now. Install the sound driver of my mobo's onboard sound card and see what happens...

Explaining: i use the off board sound card because when i install the driver of the mobo's sound the winXP gives a lot of tilts and more. I'm afraid that something can happen again with my pc... but... i have to do it ! For honor ;D ! Hehehe ! I'll be back 8)

That's it ! It worked very well ! Miracle !

But... the mic doesn't works in the CS game. :(
