A question for the dutch...
« on: August 31, 2005, 01:53:50 pm »
Well it has come to my attention that nearly all dutch people completly outsmart us bristish. here is my point.

most dutch people here can speak amazing english, however us english dont really have a clue when it comes to other languages.

so what i ask is, is enlgish like the number 1 language there or something? or are the dutch just natually smart?

Well, if you lived here in the Netherlands, you will soon find out that the most people are just plain dumb, like in any other country (:P)

I think it has to do with English being the nr.1 spoken language in the world (not by amount of people, but by amount of countries which have English as first language, or at school) thus everyone here gets it as school, where French and German (and Spanish) are more voluntarily (like picking only having to pick 1 of those as subject)

English is very often the first other language you'll learn at school here, and is considered most important. I've had 6 years of English, while only having 4 years of French or German. And now at uni, all my study books are in English, and some of the courses are too.
Also it is unusual to dub television programs here, so we'll have alot of original English programs here (with subtitles) massive campaigns of broadband providers have caused that a large part of the people have internet (lots of English there) and games/software are often in English too.

In other words, we are constantly in touch with the English language, and thus it is very handy if you can write/read/speak/hear it properly.
However, English is not a second language here, in the streets you will hear only Dutch (yea, sometimes other languages too (immigrants))

Like Timenn just said, Dutch people are just plain dumb.

however they still try to take over the world. And they raise the cost on oil.

Most Dutch ppl are extremely stupid, but then again, there are a few, which are amazingly smart and they have a PC with internet. It's a small part of the Dutch, but an important part. The not so smart people are to stupid to own a computer, that's why you never encounter them. When you encouter Dutch they are extremely smart, so everybody thinks all Dutch are smart, so in the end it's easier for us Dutch to take over the world. And then they vote me for president.

 ;D

But as rottevis said.. there are some ppl who are extremely smart here in the netherlands...
And the more you get down to the southern part of The Netherlands, the smarter they get..
Rottevis is near Rotterdam, where intelligence is unpronounceble for most of the ppl, but Rottevis is on of them who has a above average intelligence quotient. (IQ)
In The Netherlands is Dutch still the #1 language. But as I said is in the Northern part of the netherlands english very rare... and in the southern parts where the elites live (like me and gryphon) is english as a second nature...

You could probably just say Randstad, and then you have it. Well, you might want to consider leaving out Rotjeknor... Cockroach City

(Randstad, big city zone in the middle-western part of the Netherlands)

As a matter of fact both me and Phoenix have been visiting Amsterdam just recently. You just can't think of the stuff we found there. . . O, and Amsterdam isn't our political capital. . just a place we lure the tourists to. .

On a more serious note, The Netherlands is just a small country. When people go on holiday here, they don't speak any Dutch. We Dutch
are used to that and have adapted ourselves to other larger countries. As English is the most spoken language, its easier to adapt. Most Dutch will speak English to a
understandable level. But more in restaurants and other public places, you may find thate even more languages are spoken, like German, French.

We've just adapted to the fact that no one that visits The Netherlands will speak our language. Same for us if we visit another country, no one will speak Dutch so we'll need to find another language to communicate :)

Can't argue with that I guess.  If you go even further south, you enter Belgium, and as the people in the Southern part of The Netherlands are already very intelligent (as stated by themselfves) we must be even more intelligent.   They claimed it themselfes.  So I'll rest my case.  ;)

Dude. . you have Verhofstadt as a minister. I admit I like the guy more then Balkenende or Bush. . but be hounest. . look at him . he crashes about one Audi A8 a year . . and just look at the guy. . . that's not a real sign of intelligence. .. . although he kinda looks funny. .. :P

The belgium ppl were actually that stupid not to join the netherlands... so i think if belgium would do that, become as one nation with the dutch, they indeed could title themselves with the honor of "very smart being"

(Randstad, big city zone in the middle-western part of the Netherlands)

don't forget limburg m8 (you got some on the board here  :P)
and dark 80% can have a decent english conversation
70% of the dutch people can speak german
90% of the dutch people can speak Dutch (the other 10% is imported or to small young)
20% of the dutch people can speak correct belgium (limburgers mostly ;) )
15% of the dutch people can speak fries (but that are all the people in the whole world that speak it)
40% can speak french (the rest failes at it)
40% can speak an arabic language
40% can speak spanish/italian/greek (the people who go on vacation to it :P)

(btw these numbers are guessed by me)
but to get to the point. most people know @ least 3 languages here.
but on school we need to learn>> dutch - english - french  :-X - german

ow and 1 person knows a different language:

About that picture...
I think it was hell of an action or Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He missed a penalty, and that guy with #5 on its back did it to him, and 5 minutes later Ruud scores, and runs to him and does the same thing...
And he gets a yellow card...
But a great action though..

i loved the action that's why i placed it there.
btw after the missed penalty the nr 5 laughed @ him that's why he did it.
and the actions he made against some players (hard tackles and stuff like that)
and i loved the action from cocu  8)

the only thing the fifa needs to do now is take teams like andorra away from events like this and give this ref some extra lessons  ::)

Offtopic

To be quite honest, that was plain stupid. Now it was Andora, but imagine a way stronger team, you'd be with 10 men after 38 minutes.
And Cocu should have been way more professional in his attitude, especially him being one of the few with experience. Besides, due to that action he can't play against the Chechs, which is where we would need him..

No way Doc.... I love to see it, profesional or not... TEAMSPIRIT! Cocu didn't take it to see Van der Vaart being kicked so he just did something back. He actually didn't kicked at all.

Also... Ruud is the man, he scores and that last action against number 5. Then I was really ROFLMAOPIMP over here ;D ;D ;D ;D
