Topic: cant install wow !! omg !!

hehe - my friend has bought warcraft but it just wont install - he gets a bootstrap error and it wont even load the installation from cd - we tried a few cds all no good

he has a comp from tiny , specs 3.06 etc - but we are no techno wizards - any ideas folks ?

think hes desperate - l;ast i heard he was playing everquest 2 - alone - in the dark and in his pants

pls help - a mnas sanity and very soul hang in the balance

Just curious, which few CD's did you try ? As I presume you still only get one CD if you buy a game.

hi - we just tried his cd and my cd and my gfs cd - and even the dvd version thats on this months pc magazine - but none of them ran on his puter - but did on mine

Here's what Blizzard says about the Bootstrap error..

If there is more then one memory module in the pc, try taking one out and see if it solves the problem.

NOTE: Make sure you take anti static measures BEFORE opening your pc...

I've tried EVERYTHING Blizzard tells me to - nothing works. I've used different CD's and copied the files to my HD and tried to install from here but no use.

Does the install work on another pc, or other DVD drive ?

yea - all three sets are working perfectly!

I've tried changing my RAM and doing Scandisc - I even defragmented it yesterday!

gonna try tonight after having defrag'ed but if that doesn't work I'm totally lost!

Have you tried a new drive in your pc ?

One of the things you could do is the following;
Download the game from http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/wowclient-download.html
and activate it with your cd code. Let me know if that works.

changed cd driver twice now I have a DVD drive - I've copied the cd's to my HD and installed it from there but same error.

I've gotten to the point where I think it's HD.

Weird that on another DVD drive it works, but not in your PC..

Have you tried booting up the PC in safe mode and then try installing it ?
Or maybe installing it in a different directory.

Before you try anything else, empty your temp folder..

I've tried everything - including installing in safe mode - everything the tech forum ahas sugested. But I think my HD is fucked up I can't get to any other conclusion.

I'm buying a laptop in january, maybe I'll be able to play it on that instead.
