Secondary IDE channel 80 conductor cable
« on: December 30, 2005, 07:12:28 pm »
Hi guys,
I've got a strange problem here.

I have installed a dvd-burner into a computer.
But on startup i see, in the sreen of what ide channels are in use, the message: Secondary IDE channel 80 conductor cable not installed.
I have used a ide-80 cable in stead of the ide-40 which was in use by the cdrom player before i installed that burner.
Computer is still running as if nothing happened. Only that is see that weird message...

Any help would be appreciable ;)

btw, I would like to wish all of you a happy new year..

what type of cable is on the primairy channel ?

about the cable :
Quote
Master is a black connector.
Slave is a gray connector.
System connector is a blue connector.

Which devices are on the cable ? Probably you have a ATA 133 cable with a ATA 33 device. Or a harddrive (or harddrive misconfigured in the BIOS)
Expect anything, and life will become boring...

as i said i have installed a dvd burner..

on the primary ide channels are 2 hdds..
 primary cable is also ide-80

i think its the problem of a ata 133 device (the burner) on a ata33 port on the mobo..
