The Game Heaven website rests on a web server in Rotterdam. (7th Foor of The Cube)
As some of you might have noticed for just under 2 hours today a couple of servers on that floor have had network problems resulting in Gameheaven being unreachable for just under 2 hours.

On the positive side, the server didn't experience any downtime and this is if I recall the first downtime Gameheaven has had this year.

Just to let you know that later tonight around 1AM CET the server will receive upgrades. I expect the downtime to be around 30 minutes.

Tonight (CET somewhere after midnight) I am going to pull the plug on a couple of SUN servers. New ones will take over. The new ones have been humming for more then 2 months in test and in addition almost 100 days in the current configuration to run a couple of pre-production test. So far so good an a number of sites already have made the transition without any hick-ups.

Game Heaven will be upgraded to SMF 1.1.12 and be running on the new cluster in the morning. I am not expecting to experience more then a couple of minutes downtime if any at all.

update:
Both updates have been completed. I haven't noticed any interruptions or side-effects.

Forum has been updates to 1.1.13.

I added a special board for Magic the Gathering and a group to go with it. And made some changes in the forum order. Staff and moderator boards are all the way down and game boards are up.

Seems more appropriate that way. :-)

The Game Heaven at one time was primary located with these guys... They are still trying to recover from a defect router at the moment with 2 suites currently down.

I have played around a bit on the main page (www.gameheaven.nl). Nothing fancy.

And currently the forums are at version 1.x of SMF. I am still doubting to upgrade them to 2.x.

It was a long and bumpy ride. The forum has had a fresh install to clean up the 250MB it was consuming. Considering a clean install has about 20MB I thought that was rather a lot.

The forum-version has been upgraded to SMF 2 during the process.

Hope you enjoy the new version. :-)

mmmm, looks totally different now. Came to the board and didn't reckognize it, so I went to my favorites again to follow the link a second time before I realised it actually was GH but with a new look
