Favorite Region
« on: October 04, 2003, 08:08:19 am »
Mostly just a curiousity thread, but does anyone have a favorite region or area that they've visited? I myself live in Wes Irginia, in a region that also encompasses my two lovely friends Ordos45 (Wes Irginia) and number6 (Maryland), though I'd never call it my favorite region despite this obvious plus :) My own favorite is Chicago and the area near it. I was born here (Wes Irginia), lived there (Chicago) for two years within a month afterwords, and came back here (Wes Irginia) feeling like someone cut my arm off :P I spent those first two years and many after sailing, celebrating all those great Jewish holidays with my relatives, and very much enjoying the fact that I usually stayed with my grandparents who live in a condo above the Chicago Ritz Carlton ;D

I've been to Chicago, but can't get all that exited about it. I did like Sears twoer though :)

My best region that I've been so far, are the rockies in Canada.

My favorite region is on the top of the world 8)

Seriously, I think it is everywhere in the mountains (the quiet places). Then I'm talking about the Alps mostly, because I never left Europe

I guess I like Maryland. I have lived here most of my life.  My wife and I have discussed moving several times. When I was in the military I lived in South Carolina for almost 5 years. I have grown attached to that area. I especially like Hilton Head, SC. It's very peaceful and lots of beautiful beaches. If I could find work down there I would probably move in a heartbeat. There is not a lot of demand for technology down south though. I guess I could try and change professions. I could decide one day to become a shrimper like forest gump did!

ah, I have many favourite regions:
 - Dalmatia, Croatia (herigate)
 - Southern Africa / in perticulair Namibia. such an immense country with such beauty (check pictures for Sossusvlei and Namib Naukluft NP)
 - ofcourse the greater Bijlmer region/ also known as Amsterdam ;D (much love to the Bemre folks)
 - I have to admit Texas holds a special place in my heart, eventhough it's filled with Texans

So I guess I dont have just 1 perticulair favourite region.
I see myself as an ihabitant of the world.  ::)
