I hope for nVidia that they will put in the official DX9 instruction set in their chip next time instead of making their own. But for now I made a wise choice to go for ATI.

No matter what tests show, I'm a die hard Nvidia fan and will stay a die hard Nvidia fan. ATi had it's shot in the past with me, but screwed up completely.

I'm curious to know the exact details of the test though..

But keep in mind, HL2 isnīt yet optimized for nVidia, so in the retail version things will be a lot closer together.

The price of the Nvidia video cards is less expensive than the ATI cards.
So, i will buy a Nvidia card... 256mb is a lot of memory.

Ex:

Nvidia VGA AGP256 MB FX5600 8X DVI/TV INNO3D : r$ 550
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB ALL IN WONDER BOX (10 dias) : r$ 1.672

Donīt buy 256MB ram, youīll never use it. Take the 128mb version

Who knows ? Maybe in the future (it is close) the games will have to use 256mb. If i buy the 128mb.. i will spend without reason my money all moment.

Ex:

Whoa ! That game looks great !
* Well ! Buy a GF 4 64mb ! It will rock !

days later...

Whoa ! That game rocks all !
* If you buy a FX 128mb, you will doesn't have any problem to run.

To doesn't do this all the times, i will buy a advanced card. Got it ?

I think the point to think about here is that in about a year that  256MB video card you buy now will be outdated technology. I think 128MB is more than adequate for the next 2 years for all PC gaming. That 256MB will never be used to its full potential because the underlying technology in that card will be outdated before games that use that much RAM are created. Save some cash now so you can upgrade later.

On the HL2.net forum the guys told that nvidia cards will not be so good with HL2, so it's a nice opportunity to test my FX 5600 256mb.

(yeah, i bought it today)
