Problem with Generals :|
« on: October 08, 2003, 12:27:26 pm »
Hi everybody,

i have some problem with C&C Zero Hour. I have Winroute running on my computer with NAT activated (ip: 192.168.8.1) and dhcp server running. I forwarded all ports needed for Generals and Microsoft Zone to my 2nd puter (ip: 192.168.8.2) (haven't added the ports needed for gamespy, will do it later today). So, the problem is :

Both, me and my friend can connect to generals online. we both can join games but SOMETIMES we get the message : CANT CONNECT TO OTHER PLAYERS when the game's about to start. strange thing is, we dont get the message everytime, but very often.

is this problem on my side ? or can't we connect coz of the other players?

thx for the help ;)

p.s. sorry for my bad english

The problem is not always on your side, I got it too with both Generals and ZH. Often it is another player with a bad configured firewall.

I have a problem, when my friend and I try to play over a network(both computers hooked up to a hub) we can see each other in the game room but when i try to join his created game i get an error saying that our versions don't match and it says that one of us modified it.  Does anyone know the problem?

Thanks

Do you have any mods installed ? Did you try re-installing ? Do both have the same version ?

You you have the same protocols installed ? [ look at IPX, TCP and NetBIOS ].

And if you have a firewall drop it and see if the error still occures.

Both of our laptops are from school and we're both configured for the college network, we did turn the firewall off.  Would that have anything to do with it?

Do you both have the patch/upgrade for Generals installed ?

You might want to apply the newest patch on both, and are they the same language ?

Could you just to make shure verify that both computers have the 3 mentioned protocols installed ? [ you never know :) ]
