Ok, now that I got the router sorted (doing for the D-Link DIR-685), next I'd like to get some comments/feedback on is a NAS.

I've been doing quite some searching. I've learned that the high performers do cost more then I want to spent
(seen prices of 750 to 1000 Euro's, which is not the intention). What I would like the NAS to do is to be able
to run as a game server and file storage. I'd also like it to be easy manageble, so no linux line commands needed
(I'm a Linux n00b).

One of the NAS' I've been looking at, is the
QNAP TS219P.

My complete setup so far after some research:

Router: D-Link DIR-685
HDD for Router: Seagte Momentus
Switch: D-Link DGS-1005D
NAS: QNAP 219P
HDD for NAS (x2): Samsung SpinPoint F1 RAID Class

From the reviews on the above products, I should be good to go Smiley
It will put me back around the 950 Euro's though..

I guess its either Qnap or Synology

I have a Synology 209+, im rather pleased with it, and all the options Synology are providing
I can download from it with 60mb/sec and upload with 50mb/sec
Im currently using the squeecebox server and im about to use the mailserver, webserver, mysqlserver and phpaddon aswell

for the discs i chose seagate or samsung myself (because of the price) but now that its gonna run 24/7 im hitting myself for not buying the WD Green something, discs, which got a lower powerusage

Ok, started to connect my home network stuff.

I first made a test on the internet connection with just my pc installed to the cable modem.
I have a 20mb down and 3mb up connection. Not too dissapointed with the
result.

Now going to try and see if I can get the router connected Smiley

That depends. If I work from home then it's very usefull. Same in regards to gaming.
Have to note that they recently increased my bandwidth to 20 down. It used to be 10...
For the occasional browsing and mailing my wife does I obviously do not need it Smiley
