At least no one will be able to say you didn't try anything.

Thanks for keeping us updated Dave !

It should be stated in the BIOS.

Your FSB is 533Mhz max for the processor.

Has your GPU got a fan on it ? if so check it for dust.
Also maybe your drivers need updating..

@ David, has it ever worked okay for you, or does this error come up since the beginning ? If it has worked before, what changed ?

@Phoenix, you say it happens sometimes. Is there anything specific that happens when the problem occurs ? Do you have any background programs runing ?

not running any background programs... and when I'm playing somethimes my screen freezes a second or 2, then it will continue, thats for me a signal of saving my game because not much longer my screen will freeze again and then my screen looks like as in that previous post with attachment.

Hi there. I encountered the same problem with both my PC and laptop. I've enclosed the dxdiag report for my PC. As for my laptop, I'm using P4 2.53GHz, 2x256 RAM, 40HDD, and ATI Radeon 7200 64RAM.

I really like this game alot and it's darn disappointing I can't play it on both my units. I've even set the refresh rate to 75Hertz. What else can I do? Please advise.

Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Sorry...correction on my laptop's graphic card... it's ATI Radeon  7500 64MB instead of the ATI Radeon 7200 64MB I mentioned earlier.

Thanx.

Actually, looking at your DxDiag file you attached you have:

Quote
---------------
Display Devices
---------------
Card name: GeCube RADEON 9200 SE 128MB Game Buster
     Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: RADEON 9200 SE AGP (0x5964)
         DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
        Device ID: Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5964&SUBSYS_017018BC&REV_01
   Display Memory: 128.0 MB
     Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (75Hz)
          Monitor: BenQ FP731
  Monitor Max Res: 1280,1024
      Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll
   Driver Version: 6.14.10.6414 (English)
      DDI Version: 8 (or higher)
Driver Attributes: Final Retail
 Driver Date/Size: 12/12/2003 12:50:24, 384512 bytes
    Driver Signed: Yes
  WHQL Date Stamp: n/a

Which should be fine. The only thing I would suggest is that you upgrade to DirectX 9.X. I know the minimum requirement for the game is DX 8.1, but it does not hurt to upgrade and it may help fix the problems you are having. Nothing stands out in your Direct X setup to me.

Good Morning all

Well, i'm also fighting with this stupid serious error. This week i tried to solve it, so i first read the whole thread on the generals message board. Here is what i've done:

- removed one of my 2x512MB DDR 400 RAMs
- set FSB to normal 166 (333)
- set standart timings for RAM
- set swapfile to windows controled (not really possible with Win2k)
- set everything to "performance" (driver)
- set generals to low resolution
- disabled all details in the game
- set texture resolution and particle to low
- closed all unnecessary background applications
- set AGP to 4x
- disabled fast write
- enabled vsync

Now, with 7 hard players and myself i could play a litte longer then usual. But then firs my units began to stuck (also a common problem with my ZH), and then later i got the serious error. NO overheating, its impossible. Also NO virus. The detail and resolution was so low, it looked like crap.
I also read a few posts here, and someone mentioned to enable side band adressing. Unfortunately this is not possible with the detonator 53.03, it's gray and i can not check the box.
Oh and another thing.... after i pulled the 2nd RAM out, and put it in again later, my comp would not boot anymore (just stoped after the first boot screen with IRQ and so on...). I tried everything, default default default and even more default setting, it will not work. Now i just can use the one still inside. I tried the other one alone, but then not even my GFXcard bios appears - just nothing happens. Well... it seems i damaged it somehow when i pulled it out. Don't know why, there is no visible damage. Lucky G.E.I.L. RAM has a life time waranty. Maybe Generals don't like G.E.I.L. at all??

I really don't know how i ever will be able to play ZH and have fun with it... unless EA fixes it.  But when i look into the generals message board, and count the answers from EA regarding this... 0. So sooner or later i have to scrap and dump ZH somewhere. Or claim to have my money back from EA... :/

frustrated greetings

Maxtor 200GB 7200rpm UDMA133
Maxtor 80GB 7200rpm UDMA133

Well you've tried a lot alright. First thing I would like to ask is to try the drivers from www.omegacorner.com. Do not use the latest, but try a version from 45.xx

Btw, did you already update your motherboard chipset drivers ?

I don't understand why ZH should run error-free with kind of a 3rd party driver...  ???
But as i'm really pissed, i will try it on the weekend. I took me until early morning to fix my comp again, so i'm not very alive now here at work. ;)
My chipset drivers are still 2.45 (or whatever), as i have heard bad storys about the new ones. You think i should try?

cheers

YOu have a Geforce card,so you need the Geforce drivers, from Omega.
Try the 52,16 one.

In my opinion has Generals just a bad engine which cannot run w/o errors. Any1 I know has serious errors occuring when in the game. in an early stage, or just when lot of performance from the graphic card is required. I have tried to let ghost recon run a whole night and it works fine n.p. but when I just rebooted my computer and I start generals, whitin 5 minutes my graphics are upside down, black squares etc etc.
So.... it's just a bad engine nothing more, nothing less....
EA has made more than one mistake in making this game.

It seems URLs doesn't work right, so just copy and paste it:

It may help or not, i'm just sick of it now. >:(
You can add "me too" in the thread, you don't have to mean it.  ;)
