Asus P4C800 DeLuxe This is the motherboard I own. There are probably more motherboards that run very stable. But when ever I buy a new motherboard, it will be Asus.

Sure itīs a good one, but not a really good one. You did a wise choice by taking Asus, but a wrong choice choosing a Via-chipset. Take any Asus with an Intel chipset, you canīt get anything better. I own the Asus PC-DL Deluxe, even with extreme overclocking it doesnīt let me down (something I canīt say about my Radeon 9800 Pro).

Hmmm.Which means I have to buy a new processor and DDR 400 Ram sticks. And possibly a new case.
I don't kno wif this MOBO will fit into my present case ?
At the moment there is a micro atx mobo in it ?
Although it's a large case. :-\

If you look at the back of your case youīll see the holes for the expansion cards (graphic card, sound card, etc). If you got about 7 or 8 of them then you can fit in an ATX board, if not buy a new case. By the way, if you are planning to upgrade your pc, make some budget free for a case where you can add some extra fans in the future for some good airflow. For ~Ģ40-45 you can find a low-budget Miditower case at any pc-shop.

I tried to find a retailer in the UK for Sunflower cases, but apparently the only firm that does, only sell them to other firms, not to the general public. :(

Where is the cheapest or best online retailer of computer products in the UK ?
Anyone know ?

All motherboards are good in my opinion. It really depends on what you want to get out of your system.  I would suggest going to Tom's Hardware website and read the reviews of the latest chipsets/motherboards.  If money is no object I would look for the best reviewed board at Tom's hardware with the specs you are looking for. I am sure Doc's motherboard is pretty high end and we know that RotteVis has a dual Xeon system so his is probably the most expensive system out of all the members here.  I have an el cheapo ECS motherboard and it does everything that I need it to do just fine. I am always building new systems every year so I don't need to have the best there is. I will always have good enough.

KVR400X64C25/51 is this the right DDR memory from Kingston for the P4C800 Deluxe E MOBO ?
512MB 184 pin Dimm pC3200 non-parity CL2.5.  ?

What's this new ASUS S940 MOBO ? is this better than the P4800 deluxe E MOBO.?

S940 is not a type for a mobo, it's the socket type for the opteron from AMD.

KVR400X64C25/51 is this the right DDR memory from Kingston for the P4C800 Deluxe E MOBO ?
512MB 184 pin Dimm pC3200 non-parity CL2.5.  ?

It's a good stick of memory, but make sure you buy 2 banks of memory, cause the P4C800 mobo supports dual channel. So if you want 512mb in your pc, take 2 x 256mb or if you want 1gb of memory take 2x512mb.

Usually a MoBo can support only an AMD type processor or an Intel one. Where the socket type identifies the type of CPu you can place on it.
With 2 exceptions. A Intel P4 motherboard can also hold a Intel Celeron. And previous socket 370 can also hold Cirix / VIA CPU's besides intel ones.

This is what I'd like to buy :

MOBO :ASUS P4C800-E/Deluxe
CPU:    P4 2.8 512 Kb S478 Box 800FSB
Memory:Corsair 512(2X256) dual channel DDR XMS 3200
CLS 2.5
Maxtor 120MB HD 8Mb cache ATA133 7200 RPM

And the other bits I might have forgotten.

Can someone give me a price less than 550 Pounds for the lot ?

CPU 245
mobo 153
memory 2 * 55
hd 123

total = 631 Euro / 430,65 pounds not including the case.
www.mycom.nl

Mobo 142
CPU 239
memory 2 * 89
hd 105

total = 664 Euro / 453,08 pounds again without the case.
www.alternate.nl

combined the cheapest = 596 Euro / 406,68 pounds.

postage costs = 18,50 Euro's upto 5 kilo's, and 25,50 upto 10 kilo's. 32 and 39 are the next prices.

you give me the 550 pounds, and I'll mail it to you . .. ;D
