The gameheaven url is just showing as a link when you post in on a forum page. That has nothing to do with how it is addressed or handled in a cookie file on you disk.

shall I be the guy who helps you out of all this mess ? ;)

The problem is with the domain / site name of the cookie. When you both go to gameheaven you probably type in the DNS name and not the www name. resulting in you going to the URL http://gameheaven.nl. And not http://www.gameheaven.nl. The cookie is set for www.gameheaven.nl. And guess what. If you click on a link for one of the boards [ if you went to http://gameheaven.nl where you cookie doesn't work ] you will be guided to www.gameheaven.nl. Note the www in from of it while you never ever typed it in in the first place ?

So in a way the cookie is working to good. The main page and main forum page can be addressed with gameheaven.nl. Where the forum's cookie is a varification for a site called www.gameheven.nl. Long stsory but technically those 2 sitenames don't have to correspond with the samen site. So you are not validated untill you go to a www.gameheaven.nl link. Which will automatically happen when you go to one of the boards. Or when you have bookmarked the page as a www.gameheaven.nl one like me. . ;)

O, btw. . . do you both know it's possible with the cookie ID for any one to log in to this forum with your ID ?
Just modified your post so the important user info isn't in it anymore.

btw. I am currently logged in and editing one of my posts. And in another tab I just accessed the http://gameheaven.nl/forum/ site . . not validating me as myself. . . going to a forum board I emidiately was validated. . .

This is what is in my Browser address bar:
http://www.gameheaven.nl/forum/index.php?action=recent
Sorry, here is the main page address from my browser :
http://www.gameheaven.nl/forum/index.php
If you noticed the fed2k cookie I posted it doesn't have www before it and it works on that site ?

Also above is the favourite(bookmark) link I use to access the gameheaven site.
I have never changed anything on it, it just stopped working correctly, as I have said before every other web site works, the forums I mean.???

what happends when you close the current IE session. Come back 10 minutes after that and just type in the address bar www.gameheaven.nl/forum/ ?
Does it see you a a guest or are you validated as a user ?

on a side note, how is this page bookmarked with you ?

nope. . . .try the link again .. ;). . it has to do with the server, or one in between. Bad replies or something.
I don't use drawing boards anymore.. . . . .

both windowshots have been taken in the same browser, with the same active cookie as I am using now to post this reply.

It doesn't have to be 10 minutes precies. Just long enought to have closed your brower and not be running on session cookies anymore. So the 10 is more a guidline. :)

I know about the expression. ;)

other forums probably use another cookie ID then the one gameheaven is using. You can see so with the Fed2K one. And technically http://gameheaven.nl and http://www.gamenheaven.nl are 2 different sites. As you can see in my browser the cookie for this forum only validates you on the http://www.gameheaven.nl site as it should be doing.

that's why I asked you to type in www.gameheaven.nl/forum/ in the url bar yourself to see if that would change anything .....
not relying on your bookmarks.

I found a way ! I don't know why.  I resaved the bookmark , got the message bookmark already exists etc.Saved it anyway and now it works.
Can you tell me why it now works ? the address is exactly the same as before ?

the address shown in your bookmark is the same, but your bookmark isn't. It also hold specific user data.

Oh ok. Well done anyway gryphon !
Maybe Doc can try the same as me and see if it works for him too ?

I think it must have been the recent microsoft update for Internet Explorer security fix, that caused the problem.Do you also have automatic updates running ?(how else can user data change on it's own )?

Good work Gryphon. I would never have guessed it was a bookmark problem. I rarely ever use bookmarks, I always type in the url address. I guess that's why I did not see the problem Doc and Atomic were seeing.
