Death to Downloads Pissing Me Off
« on: August 18, 2005, 08:14:32 am »
Upgraded to a 4mb cable connection a few days ago. It worked out fine, and then randomly long downloads seemed to die abruptly. I could download 800mb files, then it would die on 300mb files, and so on. Just did it again, and I have no idea what to do. Also, I've been downloading game demos, and I continually got corrupt demos, and I reformatted because of it. It's doing the same thing - some work, some don't, any ideas?

Typically I use Firefox, and before I used it with the speed increaser, but it does it both in IE and Mozilla.

I had the same problem trying to download large files with firefox and IE where the download could get to 56% and then die. So I use a download manager instead and a firefox plugin to work with it  ;D

Okay, I'll try that. What about the corrupt demos though? I've downloaded America's Army, Warhammer, etc. and gotten that (in the case of AA, about eight times from different sources) over and over again, just different error messages telling me to re-download in the end?

you are sure your disk isnt full ;)

I have no problems actually, downloading AA with firefox... (I have downloaded it a while ago, but that should not make a differance...)

But as I said, try a download manager...
