Disappearing PS2 Mouse

I'm completely baffled by a strange problem that has appeared on my client computer.The Ps2 mouse is no longer showing in the hardware manager,the mouse works for several minutes on boot up then stops functioning.

I have tried re-booting etc but can't get windows to recognise it.

Any ideas as to how I can get it back ?

Try disabling the port in the BIOS, or change the IRQ. When you boot up again, it'll recognized again. Also, talking about IRQ's, isn't it sharing the IRQ with anything ?

it's the same motherboard as you have Doc,and I can't find an entry in the Bios for it either ? ::)

I'm not behind my PC, so I'm not sure what option to look for. I'll try to see as soon as I'm behind my PC.

isnt it caused by that worm you had??

try to boot in safemode, run msconfig, and look which programs are run and not neccessary. (you can do this even without a mouse, using the 'TAB'key. Than reboot and look what happens...

If it does not work.. use a USB mouse ;D
