Long time no see :)
« on: February 26, 2014, 11:11:13 am »
Hello all,

Nice to see the site is still up.  I was getting all nostalgic today so I logged into the site. Sorry I have been away for a while. I promise to check in more frequently. How has everyone been?

For me life has been busy. I am doing a lot more web based programming at work which I enjoy. My daughter is in her second year of college and my boys are in high school. It is amazing how time flies.  I assume you all play video games still? Right now I am playing Bioshock Infinite.  I love the Bioshock series. Last year I played a lot of Skyrim which is my favorite game of all time right now.

Later,
Eric

Dude! Indeed been a long time :)

All good here. Playing some World of Tanks and World of Warcraft at the moment.
Doing a lot in and around the house, kids growing up fast indeed. You wonder where all the time went :-\

Glad to hear things are going good for you :)

Nice to hear back from you Doc :)

Glad to hear you are doing well too.  I hope you are not working crazy hours like you used to at work.  I tried World of Tanks on XBox 360 when it was in beta testing last year. I need to download it again now that is officially released on Xbox.  If I had more time to game I could see myself getting into World of Warcraft.

I think you'd really like world of warcraft mate :)

If you want, you can try it out for free. You can download the client and play for free up to lvl 20 (90 is max at the moment).

I am sure I will love World of Warcraft. That is what scares me :)

I did not know about playing for free until level 20 so I may check it out soon. Doubtful though since I have a huge backlog of games to play as it is on XBox 360.

My gamertag on XBox Live is : "entexman"  just in case you have an XBox and want to play online/chat sometime.

Hi #6. Good to see you have found your way back here :-)
(You know that I bought the DVD's for The Prisoner just out of curiosity.)

For me it's a lot of traveling, preparing for exams and trying a couple of hours to enjoy life.

Currently playing Batman? Arkham Origins and waiting for my copy of Watchdogs in April.
Expect anything, and life will become boring...

Doc,

     No XBox? Why not? ;)

Just kidding. In the late 90's to the mid 2000's I pretty much only played games on the PC. When the Wii and DS came out I started playing less on the PC. When I got the XBox in 2009 I pretty much became a console gamer again.  It took me a while to get used to playing FPS games with a controller, but now it is totally natural for me.

Gryphon,

What did you think of "The Prisoner"? It is an old show and a quite a bit dated in many respects.  I still have a fondness for the show though. Travelling sounds nice. Where have you been travelling? Preparing for exams can be a lot of work. I am sure you will do well.

I added you to my friends list on XBox :)

The series are a bit dated that's for sure. If you keep that in mind it's a nice mystery that I enjoyed watching.

Exams are a lot of work and even more fun learning new stuff. For now I've done the basics, Microsoft MCSE Exchange, Cloud, SCCM. Next on the list was Citrix CCIA Virtualisation, OpenStack and now my company is preparing/training me for VMware VCDX (datacenter virtualisation). If all goes well it's another year to 1,5.

The traveling comes with the job so it's mostly Europe.

Great, wi'll see you on XboX live. :-)
Any plans for a PS4 or XboX One any day soon?

It is always good to learn stuff you are interested in. We use VMWare where I work. I am just an end user of the virtual systems, but it is definitely a cool product to learn and use.

I have no plans for either the PS4 or XBox One at the moment. Not enough games to warrant a purchase and the price is a bit steep for both systems in my opinion. The 360 has so much on it right now I will have enough to play for the next year or so. Maybe then I will look into a new console.

See you on XBox sometime.

Dunno why not, I'm just more of a pc gamer than anything else. I do have a Wii though :)

I would have figured the XBox would be right up your alley since it plays a lot of PC type games on your TV. Online gaming is super smooth and it is easy to setup up online sessions with your friends.

The Wii is no longer supported by Nintendo. You need to upgrade to the Wii U now :) At least the Wii U has some multiplayer game improvements over the original Wii. Still the Wii U is a dinosaur for online gaming compared to the XBox 360.
